You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?

‘Two mins, I’m in 3 different meetings at the moment.’

Ever found, working remotely in a IT business environment, you are expected to be everywhere, doing all the things, all of the time?

That was me today. It’s not so bad. I’ve worked 8 years in this type of environment, and I’ve built a robust ‘No’ into my vocabulario.

My career path has taken me in the ‘organisational IT’ direction…I gather the what, decide the when, and the who, but I defer to my much more technical genius peeps for the ‘How’, while been along for their ride too, to answer their queries and get the nitty gritty from the business (and the boss).

This normally results on me been on call for pretty much the whole business. And as of this morning, that was someone doing a demo and needed source material.

But still. I can do this, all remotely. I mean, there are times where I want to see the white of people’s eyes, as they change what they said they wanted, AGAIN. But now, I’m deciding I would like to do that by video. 3000 miles away.
